It took us 10 hours with traffic to get here, and we arrived around 5am. Since I love roadtrips, it felt like 4 hours. Time passes quickly when you travel with good friends. And finally, a cool evening compared to the heat in Southern California
We woke up this morning and went out on the boat to the middle of the lake. We turned the motor off and just lay back and napped. It was perfect! So quiet, and the sun was just warm enough. We did some inner tubing before heading back to the dock. It was around 5pm.

Right now, everyone is asleep in the cabin, taking power naps before the partying starts (our parties are the type you have to prepare for, physically and mentally). I couldn’t just sleep away the dusk, so I walked down to the water (about 200 yds) and now I’m sitting in the (closed) coffee shop, enjoying the view:

A couple of weeks ago I decided to try eliminating carbs from my food intake for a little while and see what happens. I’m not trying to do any kind of Atkins / South Beach / Hollywood / Bollywood (um no) / Crazy Pills kind of dieting. I’m basically going to replace carby stuff with meat and/or veggies.

So far, one of the hardest things has been giving up soda. I love soda, or as Ash would say, I heart it :) So, the other day I tried Diet Mountain Dew, and surprise surprise, it tasted mostly like Mountain Dew. Ashley tried Diet Dew and said it tasted nasty, which, since she thinks Mountain Dew is nasty, confirmed to me that it was as close as I could get to the original. Then I tried Coke Zero, which is another take on Diet Coke. See, my main experience with diet soda has been Diet Coke. And to me it’s like being forced to drink chemicals that should remain in your laundry closet. So, Coke Zero was a welcome surprise as well.

I haven’t really missed bread that much. I’ve never really been a fan of pasta, so that’s made things easier. I’ve been eating hot dogs (no bun) and oven roasted chicken. Throw in some veggies here and there, and the occasional egg for breakfast. I do miss my favorite Chinese food though, because I can’t have fried rice :(

Ah crap, now I’m hungry. 11:15am? Check. Time for some chicken.
